User Interface

The buttons on the GPS opens 5 new windows that lets you access different parts of the simulator. The 5 windows are:

Resources Panel

In the resources panel you can find all the data that is stored in the simulator. Figure 1 gives you an example of what this will look like. The data area is organzied in folders where each folder groups data that are related in som way, either by being at the same geographical location, representing the same data type, or describing common geological phenomenons. To see the contents of a folder, double click on the folder name or clik on the white arrow to the left of the folder name.

Figure 1: Resource Panel

To interact with a data resource, either double-click on the resource name, or right click on the resource name. Double-clicking on the resource name will move the view in the simulator to the selected resource. Right-clicking on the resource name will open a small menu that enables you to interact with the resource. The options in this menu will vary depending on the resource type you are interacting with. You can open the same menu by right-clicking on the 3D model of a resource.

Not all the data in the simulator are visible by default. For each data object, there is a checkbox in the resource panel indicating if the 3D model representing the data is currently visible. To show or hide an individual resource, either click the checkbox, or right-click on the resource name and select "Visible". To show or hide all resources in a folder, right-click on the folder name and select either "Show All" or "Hide All". At the top of the resource panel there is a small button called "Hide All". This will hide all resources in the simulator. There is no similar "Show All" button as setting all resources visible would make the simulator seem very slow.

Tip: If the simulator seems slow at times, try hiding some of the currently visible resources.
